Sbarbacipolle

nursery school "Sbarbacipolle"

grow in nature

My memories of a happy little girl playing in the open air prompted me to create a nursery, to let other children experience the same experiences that I had at their age. And so the “Sbarbacipolle” was born. Why this name? “Shave onions” is a game I used to play as a child, a simple game that requires only a chair and many friends, which can be played indoors but which is more beautiful when played outside in the open air. This is the philosophy of our educational service: contact with nature and simple materials for playing.

The “Sbarbacipolle” nursery school is a privately owned and managed early childhood education service offered by the Lignanello farm, which intends to offer children experiences related to rurality, the use of the natural environment and direct experiences in nature .
The service is aimed at a maximum of 7 children aged between 12 and 36 months and is open from September to July from Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 14.30, including lunch.

The security of the experience

The pedagogical model of the nursery school Sbarbacipolle follows the principles of “Outdoor Education” (OE), an integrative model with respect to the traditional educational method, whose theoretical assumptions are based on the ideas of pedagogists such as Rousseau, John Dewey and Montessori, who theorized on the importance of a direct relationship with nature for the development of the child.
Outdoor Education brings numerous benefits to the psycho-physical, emotional and cognitive development of the child as well as to health, in relation to the reduction of the risk of obesity, viral infections and vitamin D deficiency. Living all year round in contact with nature it is therefore healthy for the body and educational for the mind.
These, in summary, are the fundamental cornerstones of the educational proposal of the nursery school “Sbarbacipolle”:

  1. Recognition of the fundamental role of the environment as an educational place
  2. Consider the external space as the main teaching room
  3. Implementation of the concept of “Learning by Doing” according to which direct experience is the foundation of teaching
  4. Education in the care of plants and animals and environmental sustainability, to encourage the child’s responsibility towards other living beings. The love that the child will feel towards nature, living it actively, will prepare him for a responsible and participatory adult life
  5. Promotion of green culture and the culture of outdoor sports
  6. Facilitate good educational relationships. The small group of children hosted allows the educator to be able to follow each of them in the best possible way, almost as if they were in the family, guaranteeing an attentive and personalized educational path and dedicating all the attention and listening they need, facilitating the good educational relationships.
